Friday house update

We did our pre-drywall inspection today. Everything is really coming along. They were finishing up the electrical, and cable and had just finished wiring the CAT5 coaxial. The were about half way done with the security pre-wire and were waiting for a frame inspection. The roof tile are on the roof ready to be applied and the outside of the house is ready for stucco. The foreman let us know that they had installed a lot of electrical that is optional but we didn't pay for witch they will leave at no charge. The drywall is expected to be up by Friday of next week. I will take some inside pictures then.

We went today to check out the progress of our house today, last week it was just a bunch of pipes sticking out of the ground, today it is starting to look like an actual house.

Get Out and Vote

I voted this morning after I dropped the kids off at school. I was worried about the lines because every "vote here/ aqui" sign that I passed was followed by a huge line. When I got to my polling place, however, there was no wait. So, I am wondering how many of you had to wait in the long lines that they are showing all over the news? Did any of you walk right up like I did? I won't even ask if you voted or not because I am assuming that you all did your civic duty and voted in this important election. I am just curious if it is as bad as they are making it out to be out there. I had no problems but that doesn't mean other people didn't.

Tuesday turned 7 on the 15th. She wanted to go to Build A Bear Workshop and get a new bear for her birthday. She had a great time. She got some games for her birthday so we played for a little while when we got back home. Tuesday got one game called "Would You Rather...". There are several challenges you have to do in order to move up levels on the game board. One challenge I drew was to let the other players put makeup on me and I had to stay that way until the end of the game. Thankfully it was the last challenge and I didn't have to stay that way long. The makeup was pretty scary and hard to wash off but the kids loved it. Eamon and Aelwyn weren't even playing with us but they came over to help with this challenge.

So Happy Birthday to Tuesday. I can't believe she is already 7 years old!

I was so excited about this that I had to share. As I have mentioned in a previous post, I made Aelwyn a set of Justice League finger puppets for her birthday. I also mentioned that I posted them on Craftster (seen here). Well, a few days ago I got a message from Kim at gamingangels.com (a gaming site for girls). She told me that she was writing an article about crafts inspired by comics and asked if she could include my finger puppets in the article. It is a small article but anyone who wants to encourage my shameless bragging should click here. My mention is towards the bottom and I am the one they call Shmac.

So Eamon and Aelwyn turned 5 on Saturday. Their present from Grandpa Mac was a trip to Chuck E. Cheese and, boy, did they have a blast. They didn't want to leave even when they had run out of tokens and redeemed their tickets. We had to bribe them with promises of cake at my grandma's house. I made each of them a set of finger puppets (Eamon's can be seen here) that they have actually been playing with. They also can't get enough of Operation, Thomas, and Pixel Chix. Why is it that their favorite toys are also the one that make the most noise?

Well, it has been a little over 3 weeks since school started and the kids are doing well. All the parents that have Kindergarteners, whose birthdays are any time after September1st, have to meet with the teacher and principal to make sure that their kid is ready for school. I met with Eamon's teacher last week and it went really well. She said that he is doing great. The only thing that he needs to work on is talking to other people. His teacher said that he is quiet and doesn't really talk to the kids in his class. Anyone who has ever been anywhere with Eamon will probably be as shocked by that as I was. Whenever we go out, we have to stop him from talking to anyone and everyone he meets. That boy just loves to talk. Anyway, I have Aelwyn's meeting tomorrow and I am expecting it to go well. I talked to the teacher and am pretty sure that she will say that Aelwyn is ready for Kindergarten too.

My friends surprised me last night and took me out for ice cream in celebration of my birthday. They told Aaron that they would be by to get me at 8:00 but they ran late. They were late enough that when I said I wanted to take a shower, Aaron thought they weren't coming and didn't try to stall me. Needless to say, I had to go out in public with no make up and dripping wet hair. I had such a good time though. We laughed so hard that people were beginning to stare. It was so nice to have a girls' night out. They gave me some bath stuff to pamper myself and replaced my copy of Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy. My old copy was falling apart and starting to lose pages.

The kids all made me cards and gave them to me this morning. Aelwyn kept filling up an empty CapriSun box with odds and ends she found around the house and gave them to me as my birthday presents. So now I am the proud owner of 4 pencils, 7 crayons, 3 My Little Ponies, a teddy bear and some lint. That's a pretty good haul, I'd say.

First Day of School

The kids started school today. Tuesday showed Eamon and Aelwyn the playground and then went to her class. Eamon was very eager to get to his class but Aelwyn cried when she realized that I was leaving her. That was very hard. She made it to class though and no one has called me to come get her. That must mean that she is doing fine. Now I get to get started on all of the projects I have been putting off for so long. I have enough things that will keep my mind occupied until I pick everyone up later.

I took the kids to the Phoenix Zoo a few days ago. It was a weekday so the place was almost empty except for us and the Camp Zoo kids. The peacocks were loose at the snack bar

and I met a very interesting kid named Jonathon. Jonathon was a Camp Zoo kid whose mother would not let him get his clothes wet. He sat next to me at the water park and told me all about himself and his sister and their super powers. Anyway, despite the scorching 540 degree temperatures, we all had a blast. OK, so I am not into this whole blog thing but I thought I would at least put an updated picture of the kids on here. Besides, I am trying out new things that will occupy my time when all three of my kids start school next month. I realize that I could do something productive (like cleaning the house) but where is the fun in that?

Other than that, I made Aelwyn some Justice League finger puppets for her birthday. I posted them here in case anyone wants to check them out. I plan on making some Super Mario Brothers finger puppets for Eamon next.

Well, that's it. I am off to play with my kids while I still have them all at home.

Saturday was the kids first Tee Ball game. Tuesday was in bed with a fever of 104 degrees. She is better now. The kids had lots of fun and look completly adorable in their uniforms. The catchet is Aelwyn and Eamon is the one running. I realy need to teach him how to run. More pics can be seen here

We took the kids fishing for the first time today. It turned out much less disastoruos than I thought although I was pretty busy. We didn't catch anything but we all had a great time.

1st Tee Ball Practice

The kids had their first Tee Ball Practice this week. They are all on the same team.
Tuesday is doing very well. Eamon runs all over the field. Aelwyn is usualy distracted by somthing. Overall it was a fun time. They will have their first game on the 29th.

Jim Henson at the Arizona Museum for the Youth

The family and I went to the Arizona museum of the youth to see the Jim henson exibit. It was truly awsome seeing all the shecthes and drawings of his incredible muppets and then seeing the accual muppets up close and personal. They also had a bunch of stuff from the dark crystral and other stuff from obscure comircials that he did.

I think Shawna and I had a better time than the Kids did. Eamon proclamed"I'm Boring with this" after a short time there. At the end they had puppets and a puppet stage for the kids to play with and we could not pull the kids away from there for an hour or so.
